Project Description

d franklinDorothy is a word lady. Her passion for clear language and design in all forms of communication has been honed by experience in the corporate, not-for-profit and education sectors. She has over 15 years experience developing & delivering training. With strong analytical skills and organizational ability she can offer Logic Model and needs-based assessment and evaluation services.

After studying English at McMaster University she worked at Random House of Canada Limited in positions ranging from marketing to book production. Work in staff and professional development during her publishing career prompted a return to school as a mature student for her Education degree at The University of Western Ontario.

Currently teaching Communications in the Academic Upgrading program at Niagara College, she has coordinated an adult literacy program at Port Cares, a community-based agency, and worked at the regional level for Literacy Link Niagara as an assessor and services planning coordinator. She is committed to the right of people to acquire and use literacy skills as a tool for self-determination and was an inaugural recipient of the Leaders in Literacy Lifetime Award.

Dorothy has also served on advisory committees for provincial projects and consulted on writing projects. She is now on the advisory committee for an Essential Skills writing assessment project from Bow Valley College in Alberta.
